Calligraphy 書藝 Qing Dynasty 清 5255 Teapot 茶壺 , 16.5cm x 12cm x H21.5cm
5255
Designed by Freeman Lau, this teapot is a companion to the designer’s range of tea caddies. It features Chinese characters selected from the museum’s collection of priceless calligraphy works. Calligraphy occupies a special place in Chinese culture. Like painting and sculpture, it is a form of self-expression and cultivation. The calligrapher’s style of writing is as important as the subject matter. Calligraphy masterpieces are highly treasured in the National Palace Museum. Inherited from ancient palace collections, they consist of works from hands of major calligraphers and scholars.
