ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROYAL SELANGOR’S ESG GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE

The target to reduce 1,000 tCO₂e of GHG emissions by FY2029–2030 was established in FY2023–2024. This requires an annual reduction of approximately 166 tCO₂e, equivalent to 213 MWh or RM94,000 in energy savings. By the end of FY2029–2030, the combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions are projected to decrease to 1,333 tCO₂e, as illustrated in the graph below.

The governance of sustainability priorities, initiatives, strategy and commitment is under the purview of the Board of Directors, ESG committee, Net Zero Steering committee and Heads of Department. They are responsible for the implementation of the sustainability projects planned for the next 5 years to achieve the targeted reduction of GHG emissions by 1000 MtCO2e. are currently in the conceptual assessment stage.

Annual water consumption for FY2024–2025 is 36,578 m³. By FY2029–2030, consumption from SYABAS (municipal water) is targeted to decrease to 22,000 m³. This represents a planned annual reduction of 3,000 m³, equivalent to RM11500 in savings, as shown in the graph below. Any shortfall will be supplemented through rainwater harvesting and tubewell water.
