Origins

Since 1885, Royal Selangor has been synonymous with design and craftsmanship, offering a wide range of tableware and gift items.

The story of Royal Selangor began when a young pewtersmith named Yong Koon sailed from the port of Shantou to Kuala Lumpur, a town then located in the tin rich state of Selangor. The discovery of tin in Malaya had lured him and thousands of other Chinese to the fledgling tin mining town, where he joined his brothers who had established themselves as tinsmiths. Today, Royal Selangor has a retail presence in more than 20 countries and has worked together with partners such as The Walt Disney Company and Warner Brothers to commemorate popular culture franchises such as Star Wars, Marvel, and Batman.
