Yong Koon, 1885 -1952

In 1885, Yong Koon, a young Chinese pewtersmith arrived in Malaya, armed with little more than a set of tools and a determination to succeed. Today, his humble enterprise is Royal Selangor, the world’s foremost name in quality pewter.

Royal Selangor has a presence in more than 20 countries and can also be found in prestigious stores such as John Lewis in the United Kingdom, David Jones in Australia, with offices in Malaysia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong and Canada.

Each Royal Selangor piece exudes an elegant sculptural presence derived from the softness and versatility of pewter, fashioned in a variety of finishes. Our high-quality cast pewter consists of 92% to 97% tin, which is the highest international standard for pewter, with a small proportion of copper and antimony added to strengthen the alloy.
